newhp22Facebook announced its new redesign version of its pages product for businesses.

It has new “fan pages” gives companies, musicians and politicians as much control on the site as profile pages. The company originally disliked the idea of profiles that didn’t represent real people. However, famous people and organizations began “fan pages” because it didn’t have a friend limit and they can post status updates.

The new design includes, tabs moving to the top of the user’s page, a stronger focus on wall posts and updates, and the News Feed will be more of a steady stream updated in real time.

This creates tough competition for Twitter!

The San Francisco startup business bases its revenue model around charging corporate accounts for premium features. It has proven that the “status update subscription + news feed” model is a great marketing tool. Twitter provides people with the ability to participate in social media marketing by sharing updates about companies, commenting on conversations, and communicating directly with costumers.

However, Facebook has become more marketable, not to mention easier for marketers to share and communicate with their fans.
